Aarhus University (AU)
Aarhus University (AU) was founded in 1928. It has 42,500 students and 11.500 employees (2016). Aarhus Faculty of Science and Technology cover the entire research spectrum from basic, applied, strategic and research-based advice to the authorities.
In 2016 the university was within top 100 at practically all international recognised rankings of larger Universities. The Department of Bioscience was established in 2011 by a merger of the Department of Biological Sciences, Aarhus University and the National Environmental Research Institute. The Department priorities a good teaching environment and carries out basic research, strategic research and research-based consultancy services. There are around 500 staff, more than 500 Bachelor and Master students, and 130 thesis-writing students.
