Universität für Bodenkultur Wien (BOKU)

The University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) in Vienna connects natural sciences, engineering and economic sciences to increase knowledge of the ecologically and economically sustainable use of natural resources.

The Institute of Safety and Risk Sciences (ISR) is an Interdisciplinary Research Institute at the BOKU. At the ISR, aspects of technologies with particular attention to risk, safety and security aspects are examined. Research in the fields of Bio- and Nanotechnology is primarily focused on a prospective technology assessment of new technologies based on technology characterization and risk assessment, modelling of population dynamics, material flow and life cycle assessment (MFA and LCA) as well as environmental impact and vulnerability analysis. Assessment of emerging technologies aims at the development of governance approaches for innovation processes
