Fraunhofer Society; Institute for Molecular Biology&Applied Ecology (IME)

Fraunhofer Society (FhG): The research organization FhG undertakes applied research that drives economic development and serves the wider benefit of society. IME: The institute's activities cover two main areas: Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology. The project will be handled in the division Applied Ecology. The overall aim of this division is to determine and assess the risk posed by synthetic chemicals and natural substances, and to develop appropriate strategies for the protection of humans and environment.

In the OECD Working Party on Manufactured Nanomaterials (WPMN) IME is the national scientific advisor and supports the German delegation with respect to environmental topics. IME performs the sub-sampling of the nanomaterials (NMs) selected for the OECD Sponsorship Programme and is involved in strategic discussions on grouping of nanomaterials, testing and risk assessment.
